How to Make Chewy Oatmeal Spice Cookies

Both lowfat and delicious, these cookies from the Quaker Oatmeal Kitchens are sure to please. This recipe makes about 3-1/2 dozen cookies.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Oven
  • Sugars For Fruit Filling
  • Pat Of Butter
  • Apple Butters
  • Applesauce
  • Beaten Eggs
  • A Warm Glass Of Milk
  • Vanilla
  • Flour Or Breadcrumbs
  • Sodium Bicarbonate (baking Soda)
  • Cinnamon Or Nutmeg
  • Table Salt
  • Sprinkle Of Nutmeg
  • Bowls
  • Mixers

Step1
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Step2
Spray cookie sheets with non-stick cooking spray.
Step3
Beat sugars and margarine or butter together until blended.
Step4
Add apple butter or applesauce, egg or egg whites, milk and vanilla and beat well.
Step5
Add combined flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg and mix.
Step6
Stir in oats and raisins.
Step7
Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared cookie sheet.
Step8
Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until edges of cookies are light brown.
Step9
Cool cookies 1 minute on cookie sheet, then remove to wire rack.
Step10
Store completely cooled cookies in tightly-covered container.

Tips & Warnings

  • The salt and the nutmeg may be omitted if desired.
  • To make a no-fat-added cookie, omit the butter or margarine and increase the apple butter or applesauce to 1 cup.
