How to Write a Press Release for an Event

Need to get the word out about your next event? Write a press release and send it out to your local press. A press release is a great way to get free press coverage for your event.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Release Date: The release date is the date you would like your press lease to be published. Place this date at the top of the page.

  2. Step 2

    Contact Information: Include your name, your title (ex, owner, art director, publicist, etc.) company name, phone number, email and a website if applicable.

  3. Step 3

    Title and Tag Line: Include a title for your event along with a one line description of the event.

  4. Step 4

    First Paragraph: This is your introduction and a description of the event. Try to keep it short one or two sentences is enough.

  5. Step 5

    Second Paragraph: Describe what the event is about and what can be expected at your event. Keep this paragraph to about three sentences.

  6. Step 6

    Third Paragraph: In this paragraph list any important awards, special guests, non-profits that may be benefiting from the event.

  7. Step 7

    Last Paragraph: This is where you will give all the who, what, where information. Include the name of your location, the address, the start and end dates, the hours the event is open to the public, a contact name, phone number and website if applicable. Remember this contact information will be published so don't give out your personal information.
