How to Make Jawbreakers
The jawbreaker is a hard candy that is made so that it is hard to bite into and should be sucked on. Jawbreakers can come in a wide variety of sizes and flavors. Jawbreakers can often be found in candy stores or vending machines. Jawbreakers can also be made at home which gives you the ability to make them any size you want and to make them in just about any flavor you choose. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 8 cups of granulated sugar 2 ½ cups water Stove Pot Spoon Muffin tin Refrigerator Favorite liquid hard candy flavoring

Add 3 cups of sugar and 1 cup of water to the pot on the stove. Turn the stove on high and allow the sugar and water to melt together and stir frequently to avoid burning. Add in 2 teaspoons of a flavoring of your choice. When the sugar is completely liquefied and the consistency of syrup, pour into the muffin tin filling each cup about 1/2 way full and sit in the refrigerator to cool for about an hour.

Add 2 cups of sugar to a pot and ½ cup of water to the pot and cook on high. Stir often and make sure to keep the sugar off the sides of the pot so as not to burn. Scrape the bottom of the pan to make sure that none is sticking as well. Allow the sugar to come to the consistency of syrup and pour in the tin. Sit in the refrigerator for about an hour to cool.

Remove the pan from the refrigerator and dd 3 cups of sugar and 1 cup of water to the pan. Place on the stove turn on high. Cook and stir the mixture until it has a syrupy consistence, as before. Add in 2 teaspoons of the hard candy flavoring and stir in last minute before removing from heat. Pour this into the muffin tin on top of the already refrigerated part and allow to cool for 2 hours.

Remove the jawbreakers by cracking the tin in the same manner you would crack an ice tray to remove the ice. Twist the left side one direction while at the same time twisting the right side the other direction. This will loosen the jawbreakers enough to flip the tin over and remove them completely.

Tips & Warnings
You can also use differently shaped tins and this will work in place of the muffin tin. You can use two different flavors, one for the top layer and one for the bottom if you choose.
