How to Use the Arris TM502G
A telephony modem is required to connect a computer, a telephone line, and an Internet/telephone cable. The Arris TM502G Telephony Modem has many desirable features including two telephone line capability, a two battery pack option for long-term power outages, and long-term lithium-ion battery technology. The TM502G comes with all of the required cabling and is fairly easy to install.

Insert the Battery. Unlatch the battery door on the bottom of the modem and remove it. Insert the battery pack by lining up the guide on the battery with the guide slot on the battery compartment; push the battery all the way into the battery compartment. Replace the battery compartment door and snap it back in place.

Connect one end of the coaxial cable to the cable outlet; connect the other end to the cable connector fitting on the rear panel of the modem. Tighten by hand, and then tighten 1/8 turn more with a wrench.

Insert the plug of the power cord into the power cord connector on the rear panel of the modem. Insert the other end of the power cord into an AC power outlet.

Connect one end of the USB Cable to the USB port on the computer; connect the the other end to the USB port on the rear of the modem.

Connect one end of the telephone cable to the telephone, and the other end to either of the two telephone ports on the rear of the modem.

Tips & Warnings
Once the USB cable has been connected to the computer and the modem, your computer should detect the TM502G Modem and begin installing the drivers. If your telephone system has two separate lines on a single RJ-14 cord, the telephone cord must be plugged into the telephone port marked "Tel 1/2" on the rear of the modem.
