The Windows security feature is a very sensitive security measure that can be used to protect your computer system from outsider intrusion. Because the feature is so sensitive, the security alerts can become quite aggravating after a while. Windows has incorporated a method that allows you to turn off the alerts without turning off the security software.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open the Windows "Security Center" by double clicking on the security shield that is located in your "System Tray. You can also open the security center by double clicking on your wireless connection that is located in the system tray to open your "Network and Sharing Center." If you are using the second method, you will have to select the "Windows Firewall" option that is located on the left hand side of your window and select "Security Center."

  2. Step 2

Click the option to "Change the way security center alerts me."

  3. Step 3

Select the option that best suits your needs. You have the option to turn off notifications only. You also have the option to turn off notifications, as well as to hide the security icon that is located in the system tray.

  4. Step 4

Close out of the Windows Security Center window after you have changed your settings.
