Step 1
Turn on your PC and put your Visual Studio Net CD in the drive after your operating system boots up. Wait 10 seconds to see if the machine launches the CD automatically. If so, a setup window should pop up. If this doesn't happen click on the "Start" button, which you will see in the bottom left corner of your screen. Then click on "My Computer" and finally on "DVD RAM Drive" or "CD RAM Drive," whichever you have. You will get a window with all the files on the CD. Click on the item called "Setup."
-
Step 2
Look at your setup window. You will see three items: "Install Visual Studio," "Install Product Documentation" and "Check for Service Releases." Click on the first option. Wait a couple minutes for your machine to copy all of the files it needs.
-
Step 3
Read the text in the new window that comes up, which is the start page. Read the license agreement, scrolling down to the bottom. Then click on the box next to where it says "I accept the terms." Type in your first name or the first name of the person who will primarily use the software if that is not you. Then click on "Continue."
-
Step 4
Look at the next window. It will say "Select features to install." Check the boxes next to the components you want, or leave it as is to install everything. Change the file path in the "Feature Install Paths" box if you want to save the software anywhere but your C drive by clicking on "Browse." Look at the box on the bottom right of the window to ensure that you have enough disk space. Then click "Install."
-
Step 5
Watch the bar at the bottom of the next screen to check the progress of your installation. When it gets completely filled with color, your install is complete. Your machine will also tell you it's finished by closing the setup window. Be prepared for the process to take 1 hour or more.
