When you are looking to buy hair accessories for a wedding, skip the pricey boutiques, and take a walk through the craft store instead. For just a few dollars each, you can put together hair bows for the bride as well as all the female attendants in the wedding. You will probably want to use white or ivory to match the bride's dress, but because ribbon and tulle come in a rainbow of colors, you can customize the bows to match nearly any dress color in the wedding party.

Glue a strip of 1/4-inch-wide ribbon horizontally onto the face of a barrette. Use two strips of ribbon if necessary to cover a wide barrette. Tie a 24-inch length of 1/4-inch ribbon to the center of the barrette. See Fig. 1.

Cut a 24-inch length of tulle. Fold the short ends in to meet at the center. Fold the ends to the center again. Holding the center, tie the tulle to the barrette with the 1/4-inch ribbon to create a tulle bow. See Fig. 2.

  3. Step 3

Cut a 10-inch length of 1-inch ribbon. Fold the short ends in to meet at the center, overlapping slightly. Place a dot of glue on the ends to hold the loop together. Tie the looped ribbon to the barrette with the 1/4-inch ribbon, as in previous step.

Cut two 12-inch sections of pearl trim. Lay the strings of pearls, centered, over the barrette, and use the 1/4-inch ribbon to tie them onto the barrette. See Fig. 3.

  5. Step 5

Glue a ribbon rose to the center of the barrette.

  6. Step 6

Snip the ends of the 1/4-inch ribbon to equal the length of the strings of pearls.
