Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Settings." In the Settings window, double-click "Control Panel."

Click "Add/Remove Programs." In this window, click the "Add/Remove Windows Components" button.

Select "Internet Information Services (IIS)" and click the "Details" button.

Select "File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Service" and click "OK." This starts the installation wizard. Click the "Next" button and FTP is installed on your computer. When it's finished, click "OK."

Click "OK" in the "Add/Remove Programs" window.

Double-click the "My Computer" icon on the desktop.

Double-click the "C" drive icon.

Right-click any white space in the window, and select "Add New Folder." Name the folder "FTPUploads."

Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Settings." Double-click the "Control Panel" icon.

Double-click "Administrative Tasks" and then double-click "Internet Information Services." The IIS management console opens.

Right-click the "Default FTP Site" icon on the left side of the screen. From the menu, select "New Virtual Directory." The FTP Virtual Directory wizard opens.

Type the alias of the folder. The alias can be any name, and it's what users see when browsing the FTP site. In the textbox labeled "Path," type the directory set up in Section 2. For this example, the directory for the FTP site is "C:\FTPUploads."

Set permissions to "Read" access. Click "OK." This closes the FTP File Folder properties. FTP is now enabled on the server.
