File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a format used to save and distribute files. Normally, FTP goes hand-in-hand with IIS, which serves websites to browsers. FTP is used to upload these webpages, and it's used to allow users to download files such as PDF or Word documents. Enabling FTP involves installing it, setting up folders and configuring it for network access.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can set up several file folders with access through FTP. Permissions are "read," "write" and "browse." If you plan to allow users to upload files, then they need "write" permissions as well.
