Guerilla marketing is cheap, easy, and a great way to promote your band in a creative way. Here are some ideas to get you started!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Outgoing personality
  • Small budget for printed goods if desired ($15-50)
  1. Step 1

YOUR CAR: For events, order bumper stickers. It's like a sign - but better... it has tape.

  2. Step 2

BARS: Hit up some bars a few nights before the show. Pass out flyers, or just talk to people. If you know a bartender, tell them about the show - they get paid to talk to people!

  3. Step 3

HAIRDRESSERS: Hair salons are a great place to spread news. Friday and Saturday are busy days for stylists, and many people may just be looking for something interesting to do so they can show off their new ‘do.

  4. Step 4

GUITAR SHOPS: If you know someone that works there or the manager/owner, tell them! Musicians love to share good music with others.

  5. Step 5

HIGH SCHOOLS: If you have an all-ages show, try handing out flyers after school or during lunchtime – if you’re a student at the school. If you have siblings or a younger friend or neighbor, give them some flyers to pass out.

  6. Step 6

COLLEGE CAMPUSES: Post up in the common area (usually central campus) during the daytime where people are relaxing, eating lunch, and socializing. Hand out flyers or demo cd's, or even schedule a live performance (through the school, of course).

  7. Step 7

THE MALL: The mall can open up many avenues of conversation with strangers. Talk with the employees at stores catering to the younger crowds, like Hot Topic, Forever 21, etc. Don’t forget to hit up CD stores and areas designated for community event posting!

Tips & Warnings
  • Always ask the owner of the property or management if it is okay for you to hand out a few flyers. Dress semi-professionally for best results!
