  1. Replacing Spotlights

    • 1

      Shut off the power to the old spotlight. This can be done at either the fuse box or at the switch.

      Using a utility knife, remove the caulk around the old light.

      Remove the old spotlight by taking off the screws or bolts and the wire nuts.

      Line up the new wall plate with the holes in the junction box, and pull the wires through.

      Attach the wires to the new fixture--black to black, white to white and ground to ground. Put on new wire nuts.

      Put the rest of the fixture up, and attach it with screws or nuts provided by the manufacturer.

      Caulk between the light and the wall to ensure a weather-tight seal.

      Insert proper wattage bulbs.

      Turn the power back on or flip the switch.
