Using the standard cursor provided by Apple may become tedious after a while. In addition, the cursor is quite small as compared to cursors on other operating systems. Unfortunately, Apple has not included a way to change the cursor in the Mac operating system. You can enlarge the pixels of the cursor, but to change the appearance of the cursor requires a third-party program.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mac OS Software such as Mighty Mouse or Pinpoint
  1. Step 1

    Select "System Preferences>Universal Access."

  2. Step 2

Select "Mouse." Slide the "Cursor Size" slider to enlarge the cursor. Note that the cursor becomes more pixilated with a larger size.

  3. Step 3

Download a third-party software such as Mighty Mouse from Unsanity or Pinpoint from Mac Champion (see Resources below).

  4. Step 4

To change the cursor using Mighty Mouse. Select "System Preferences>Mighty Mouse." Select the "Cursor" tab. Navigate through the available cursors. Slide the cursor scale to change the size. Select "Apply Changes." Other programs, such as Pinpoint, should function in a similar way.
