How to Make Animated Whirligigs
Websites, especially commercial ones, have to catch and hold visitors' attention. This is not easy because attention spans have gotten shorter with the Internet, and before that the remote control. The answer is flashy graphics. If you have Photoshop CS3 or later, you can easily add a transparent animated whirligig to your website.

Open Adobe Photoshop. Select "File" and "New." In the dialog box that opens, make the width and height pixel settings whatever size you want the final graphic to be. Make the pixel resolution 72, and the background "Transparent."

Use the "Shape" or "Brush" tools to create a whirligig bladed shape on the first layer. Then right-click the layer and select "Duplicate." Do this three times so that you have four layers.

Select the second layer. Select "Edit," then "Transform" and click "Rotate." Rotate the blades of the whirligig 22 degrees. Rotate the third layer by 45 degrees and the fourth by 67 degrees.

Go to the upper right in the "Timeline" and click on the little dropdown arrow. Select "Make Frames From Layers." Click "Play" to watch it spin.

Select "File" and click "Save for Web and Devices." Save the file as a GIF. And that's it.
