How to Remove Pine Tar From a Baseball

Pine tar is used in many ways, from healing skin diseases to treating wood. Since it's often used to add grip to baseball bats, it can easily get stuck to a baseball as well. There are several options for removing it from a ball. These are detailed below.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper towels One of the following: Mayonnaise Non-acetone nail polish remover Rubbing alcohol Olive oil Hand sanitizer
  1. Step 1

    Cover your baseball with mayonnaise, olive oil, non-acetone polish remover, rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer.

  2. Step 2

    Work the substance into the ball with your thumbs. It may take five to 10 minutes before you notice the pine tar loosen.

  3. Step 3

    Wipe clean with paper towels.
