How to Ink in Photoshop
Photoshop is a powerful graphics program that can serve many purposes, from photo correction and repair to comic book coloring and special effects. One technique it is capable of is inking. The various pen tools and functions give artists all they need to produce first-calls professional work.

Open Photoshop. Select "File" and "Open" and open a line drawing that you want to ink. Right-click on the "Background Layer" and select "Duplicate." Change the "Opacity" of the copied layer to 25 percent. Select the bottom "Background Layer."

Create a new layer by going to the bottom of the "Layers" panel and clicking the "New Layer" button. Name the new layer "White Layer." Use the "Paint Bucket" tool to fill the "White Layer" with white.

Click on the top layer. Then create a new layer again, naming this one "Digital Layer." Now change the "Foreground" color to black.

Select the "Pen" tool, set it to "Paths" and make sure that "Add/Delete Anchors" is turned on. Then start clicking on the lines of your image, dragging and moving the "Tangent Bars" of the points you make to get the lines of the path to better conform to the curves of your drawing. Zoom in for detailed work.

When you complete a part, right-click on the path and select "Stroke Path." In the dialog box select "Foreground Color" and click "OK." Right-click and select "Delete Path." Continue this process until you have inked the entire image, and then save you work.
