When you are trying to find ways to use refried beans, it is common to think of Mexican favorites such as tacos, burritos or tostadas. Refried beans can also be used as the base ingredient for a 7-layer dip, an appetizer that can be served with either chips or crackers.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 8 oz. sour cream Taco seasoning packet Small mixing bowl 1 can refried beans Large plate or platter 8 oz. guacamole 1 head shredded lettuce Diced tomato 8 oz. sliced black olives 8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese 2 tbsp. diced green onions (optional)

    How To Use Refried Beans

  1. Step 1

    Combine the sour cream and taco seasoning in a small mixing bowl and blend well.

  2. Step 2

    Spread a thick layer refried beans over the entire surface of the plate. This will form the base of the dip.

  3. Step 3

    Spread the guacamole over the refried beans.

  4. Step 4

    Cover the guacamole layer with the shredded lettuce.

  5. Step 5

    Cover the layer of lettuce with the diced tomatoes.

  6. Step 6

    Cover the layer of tomatoes with the sour cream mixture.

  7. Step 7

    Add the black olives to the top of the sour cream.

  8. Step 8

    Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the dip. Serve chilled.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add green onions to the sour cream mixture, if desired.
