How to Read Webmail

As the number of people using the Internet continues to grow, people of all ages and from different backgrounds are utilizing this mostly-free resource. Webmail lets you communicate with your friends, family and colleagues over the Internet. You can access and read messages from any location, as long as you have Internet access and a web browser. The steps for reading webmail are similar regardless of which service you use.

    How to Read Yahoo! Webmail

  1. Step 1

    Go online to mail.yahoo.com and login with your user id and password.

  2. Step 2

    Hit the "Check Mail" button or select the "Inbox" folder. Your unread messages will appear in bold. You can choose how you'd like your messages to appear: date, from (sender), subject or size by clicking on the applicable heading.

  3. Step 3

    Click on the message you'd like to read. Your message will display on your screen. To read the next message without deleting the current one, select the "Next" link on the top/bottom of your email message. To read the previous message without deleting the current one, select the "Previous" link on the top/bottom of your message. To delete the current message and read the next one, select the "Delete" link on the top/bottom of your email message.

  4. Step 4

    Click on the Draft" folder to check/read any messages you drafted. Click on the "Spam" folder to check messages that were sent to spam.

    Go online to gmail.google.com.

  7. Step 2

    Click on the "Sign In" button.

  8. Step 3

    Select the folder for the message you want to read (Inbox, Sent Mail, Drafts, All Mail, Spam or Trash) and click on the message link. (Your unread messages will be bold.) To scroll through messages and read them, select the "Newer" or "Older" link on the top, right section of your account. To read a current message and delete it, select the "Delete" button.

    Go online to www.hotmail.com and sign in.

  11. Step 2

    Select the folder your message is in (Inbox, Junk, Drafts, Sent or Deleted.) Your unread messages will be bold.

    Click on the message you want to read. To scroll through messages and read the previous or next message, select the up/down arrow in the Hotmail menu. To delete a message and read the next one, select "Delete."

    Go online to webmail.aol.com and sign in.

  15. Step 2

    Hit the "Check Mail" button and select the message you want to read.

    Click on the drop-down arrow for "View" to see all your messages or messages that are unread, read, flagged, answered or unanswered. To display messages below your link as soon as you click on them, select "Show Reading Pane." To scroll through messages and read them, open the message you'd like to read and select the left/right arrows to scroll through each one quickly. You can read messages in your "Inbox," "Drafts," "Sent," "Trash," "IMs" or "Spam" folders by clicking on them.
