How to Change a Mouse Icon Appearance

The mouse is one of the most commonly used features in the computer. Most users have seen and used the default Windows mouse pointer. Microsoft Windows offers a lot of choices to change the mouse appearance, and to make your computer screen more appealing and lively.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Click on the "Start" menu and choose "Control Panel." For Windows XP and Vista version, click on the "Start" menu, and select "Settings" and choose "Control Panel."

  2. Step 2

    Look for the mouse icon in the list and double click on the icon.

  3. Step 3

    The "Mouse Properties" dialog box will appear. Select the "Pointers" tab located at the top of the dialog box.

  4. Step 4

    Select "Scheme" to change all of the mouse pointer's appearance at the same time. "Scheme" refers to the set of actions the mouse performs such as "Select," "Busy" and "Help." Each action has a different mouse pointer.

  5. Step 5

    Click "Browse" to change the mouse pointer for each action manually. This gives more control and can be customized to the your preference.

  6. Step 6

    Click "Apply" and "OK" to save the changes. You can also download mouse pointers from the Internet.
