Pinguecula is a medical term given to the more commonly condition known Gaucher's disease, a rare genetically inherited metabolism abnormality that occurs when fatty deposits build up on tissue in organs such as the spleen, liver, brain, eyes and bone. The disease is caused by deficiencies in the enzyme glucocerebrosidase, which is responsible for breakdown of glucocerebrosides.
