How to Use a Self Timer on a Canon A550

The Canon PowerShot A550 was hailed in 2007 as the top of the line in digital photography. Still among the best sellers in the popular Canon repertoire, the PowerShot A550 has a multitude of capabilities for shooting and recording still and moving images. Among these capabilities, the option to set a self-time allows the photographer to jump into any majestic picture he may be shooting, or even include himself in a video of family or friends.

Instructions

    Using the Timer

  1. Step 1

    Switch the knob on the top right of your camera to "Record" mode. This mode is signified by the red camera icon.

  2. Step 2

    Press the "Menu" button on the bottom right of the back face of your camera.

  3. Step 3

    Scroll down to "Self-timer" using the up and down arrows and press the center "Select" button once it is highlighted.

  4. Step 4

    Select the 10- or 20-second timer by highlighting it with your arrows and pressing "Select," or select "Custom" to enter up to 30 seconds of delay and between 1 and 10 captures.

  5. Step 5

    Press "Select" to confirm your settings and place the camera for your picture and wait for it to capture your photograph.
