How to Clean a Clogged Kitchen Sink With Items in the Home
Grease, hair and debris can clog the kitchen sink. When this builds up it will create a problem with your drainage. The kitchen sick is useful for cooking, cleaning, moping and dishes. Prepare the kitchen sink. Remove any drain protectors or stoppers. If the sink has a protecting cover, take out with a screwdriver if possible. Remove any stoppers and place aside. In addition, take out all dishes.

Place the plunger around the sink hole. Standing water in the sink is important. Run the cold water to obtain a small amount of water if necessary. Thrust down on the plunger. Pull upward firmly. Continue to pump the sink. Particles may come out of the pipes or the water will begin to run freely.

Untwist a metal coat hanger into a long piece of wire. Slightly turn the end up to receive a small curve. Stick into the sink drain. Insert in the drain as much as possible. Use an up and down motion to loosen the clog. Bring out of the sink to remove any debris stuck on the hanger.

Remove any water from the sink with a bowl or bucket. Pour a half a gallon of bleach down the drain. Leave for approximately 40 minutes. Upon return, turn the hot water faucet. Let the water run into the sink, roughly 10 minutes. Repeat with the rest of the bleach of necessary.

Tips & Warnings
Never put food down the kitchen drain unless you have a working garbage disposal. Do not dispense grease in the sink drain. Once cooled it expands and create a clog. If the clog is deep into the pipe, a professional plumber may be your only alternative.
