How to Program a Genie Garage Door Opener

Genie Garage Door Openers are a popular wireless accessory used for opening a closing garage doors remotely and without a portable device. These openers can be placed just on the outside of the garage or somewhere inside the house, and require a password for opening the garage. This additional safety feature for your home and garage can be easily installed into your garage door opener with only the keypad hooked up to an electrical system.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Slide the cover halfway open on your Genie Garage Door Opener, revealing the keypad.

  2. Step 2

    Press and hold the 8 and # buttons on your keypad while you slide the cover completely open, and release the buttons.

  3. Step 3

    Press the following buttons on your keypad in order: 3, 5, 7, #.

  4. Step 4

    Select and remember a personal identification number and enter it on the keypad. The number can be any code up to eight digits, excluding the # and 8 keys.

  5. Step 5

    Press the # key after your code and press a digit between 0 and 7 before pressing the * button.

  6. Step 6

    Slide the keypad cover back down and your programming is finished. Test your opener by sliding the cover all the way open again, entering your code and pressing the * button.
