Purchase hanging baskets with plant material, sun and watering requirements in mind. Place shade loving plants, like begonias and impatiens with little sunshine requirements, in areas with six hours or less of sunshine, or in indirect filtered sun. Place sun loving plants, like geraniums and petunias, in areas with at least 8 hours of direct sunshine. Water hanging basket plants daily. Check with fingertips to see if soil is evenly moist before watering plants.

Tips & Warnings

  • When purchasing hooks and brackets, sure the basket weight when thoroughly watered can be supported by the size of the hook or the bracket you are using. For high-reaching hanging baskets, use a watering attachment, or remove them to the ground prior to watering. Water all hanging baskets thoroughly during early morning, or later in the day for best results. For best color shop and foliage, use plant food according to manufacturer's instructions.
