How to Make Payments to Bank of America Credit Cards

The Bank of America website offers a convenient and secure method of paying your credit card bill online. As a general rule, payments made before 3:30 p.m. Eastern time will be credited to your account that business day. Payments made after this time will be credited on the next business day. Make sure to enroll in the online bill payment program several days before your bill is due, because you may need that time for Bank of America to confirm your bank account.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Bank of America website -- a link is provided in the Resources section.

    • 2

Click "Enroll" under the Online Banking header in the upper left of your screen, and follow the prompts to set up an online banking account. Information you'll need to provide includes: your credit card number, the postal code for the credit card billing address, the security code on the back of the card, your Social Security number, your mother's maiden name and a valid e-mail address.

    • 3

Log on to your newly created account through the Bank of America website, click on the "Bill Pay & e-Bills" header, then on the "Payment Accounts" subhead. Next click "Add Payment Account."

    • 4

Have your checkbook open in front of you. Follow the visual cues on the Bank of America website to enter your bank routing number and your account number. Next, you'll be asked to identify your bank.

    • 5

Once your bank account is confirmed -- this may take up to several days -- log back in to the Bank of America website. Click on the "Bill Pay & e-Bills" header. Locate the credit card bill you'd like to pay and click "Pay."

    • 6

Confirm the bank account you'd like to pay with, the date you'd like to pay and the amount of the payment to be made. Then click "Continue," and save the following screen for your records as confirmation of the payment made.
