How To Drop a Pant Size

How To Drop a Pant Size thumbnail
Running or walking is an effective way to help drop a pant size.

In order to drop a pant size, you must work on slimming down your stomach, thighs, and butt. Eating a healthy diet and exercising on a regular basis is the most effective way to accomplish this. Although dropping a pant size may seem like a daunting task, this goal can be accomplished through patience and hard work.

Instructions

    • 1

Exercise on a regular basis, for at least 30 minutes per session three to five times a week. Cardiovascular exercises like running, cycling, and swimming will help you lose weight (and lower your risk of heart disease). Alternately, you can try activities like tennis, basketball, hiking, aerobics or dancing to burn fat.

    • 2

Tighten your stomach, thighs and butt area. Exercises like squats, lunges, curls, and glute squeezes will help you drop a pant size by toning certain muscles on your body. Do these activities two to three times a week and remember to rest your muscles for a day after each exercise. (See Resources for step-by-step instructions on how to tighten your stomach, thighs, and butt.)

    • 3

Eat a diet full of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. You must consume a healthy diet and cut back on desserts and fatty foods if you want to drop a pant size. Avoid foods high in saturated fat, like potato chips and cookies. Stop drinking soda (even diet soda), as they are often packed with calories and sugar.

    • 4

Remember to eat breakfast. Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day, as it gets our metabolisms going and prevents us from overeating during lunch or dinner. Choose energy-rich and healthy foods, like oatmeal or whole-grain cereal, for breakfast. Avoid fatty and greasy fare like sausages, bacon and French toast.

    • 5

Choose healthy snacks. It is easy to nibble on snacks high in fat and calories, like cookies or candy, to satiate hunger pangs when you become hungry in between meals. Instead, try snacking on fruit, baked chips, or a handful of nuts to tide you over until your next meal. If you tend to snack frequently, you may want to eat five to six smaller meals a day to keep yourself feeling full.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be patient. Dropping a pant size may take a few weeks or months to accomplish. Remember to keep exercising and eating a healthy diet--you will see results eventually.

  • Avoid fad diets, such as juice diet or low-carb diets. These diets may help you lose weight initially, but do not keep the weight off in the long run. Instead of following a fad, make sure to feed your body a healthy diet of vitamins, carbohydrates, proteins and fats.
