How to Get a Babysitting Job
This is the perfect job for a young teenager who isn't quite prepared for a part-time job yet. Babysitting allows you to work when you want to and often pays as well as, if not better per hour, than real part-time jobs. Here is how you can get a babysitting job and start your career in childcare.

The first step is to look at your situation and make sure that you are ready for babysitting. Do you enjoy working with children? Do you have a source of transportation? Are you a responsible person? Do you have free time to babysit? Look at your situation and make sure that you are prepared for the challenges of babysitting. If you feel that you are prepared, move on to the next step

2
Start the process by registering for both a local babysitting course (often offered at your local high school or community center) and/or First Aid/CPR training (often offered at your local YMCA). While these are not necessities, having these certificates will show your responsibility, improve your demand as a babysitter, and increase the amount of money you will make.

Then move on to a search for clients. The easiest way to do this is by word-of-mouth. Tell your family, friends, and relatives that you are looking for work as a babysitter and they will tell all of their friends, who might just be in need of a babysitter. If this doesn't provide enough clients, try making fliers with your name, number, and babysitting experience, and passing them out around your neighborhood or church.

On the day of your first job, make sure to show up at the house 5-10 minutes ahead of your scheduled time. This will make the day easier both on you and the parents. Go over instructions (like suggestions of what to do, whether TV is allowed or not, and bedtimes), special needs of the child/children, and emergency contact information before the parents go.
-
6
You will also need to briefly go over pricing with the parents as well, although this can be done after the parents return from their date. You can go by either a flat rate or a per-hour fee, and even though most parents are generous in the amount of money they pay, make sure that your pay reflects the number of children and time spent babysitting (should round out to $5-15 per hour).

7
Do Your Job! Follow the parent's instructions, pay attention to the needs of the kid, and make the time you spend with the kids as fun as possible. The parent's will always come home after their date and ask the kids if they had a good time. If the kid is emphatic in his answer, you will surely be invited back to babysit again and will be recommended to many other possible clients.
