Resync Audio While Watching a Video

Sometimes while watching a video on the computer, the audio may go out of sync. This could be the result of a poorly compressed mpeg, or a faulty Flash player, or because the video player is missing a coded. Regardless, there are a few quick ways to override the problem and resync the audio with the video.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

"Resize the video." This is the most unlikely way to resync the audio and video of a file. Sometimes it does work, but it is worth a shot. If this does not solve the problem, move on to the next step.

  2. Step 2

"Click the timeline." Try clicking the timeline to resync the file's audio and video. This usually fixes the problem. It doesn't really matter where in the timeline you click, but try to aim for right around the moment the audio and video desynced.

  3. Step 3

"Stop the video." If you have the option, stop the video from playing. Start it up again and it should be back in sync. Some streaming websites like Youtube only allow viewers to pause videos, and not stop them. You must stop the video, otherwise it won't work.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the file refuses to sync back up, it is most likely evidence of a technical failure, either with the file itself, the website streaming the video or your computer's video playback capabilities. You may have to download additional software if there is nothing wrong with the file.
