You may like the icons on your Windows XP desktop to appear larger for easy viewing. Windows XP comes with a utility for resizing desktop icons. This XP tutorial will show you how to make them larger in size, and also changing them back to default. Anybody who wants to make the desktop icons larger can do this change. The process is quick and simple, here's how:

Things You'll Need:

  • PC Windows XP operating system
  • Mouse
  1. Step 1

    Right-click mouse on empty area of your screen. Choose "Properties" on the appearing list.

  2. Step 2

    Left-click the "Appearance" tab when the dialog window appears.

  3. Step 3

    Click on the "Effects" under the Appearance tab.

  4. Step 4

    Put a check mark by left-clicking in the "Use Large Icons" box when the Effects tab shows. You can toggle between large and small icons by checking or unchecking this box.

  5. Step 5

    Click "OK" to save the settings and close the dialog window. Your icons will appear as desired on the desktop. Large icons may make clicking easier and also viewing, but covering up more of your wallpaper if you don't mind.
