You need to winterize your motorhome before temperatures fall to the freezing levels unless your motorhome is parked inside a heated garage all winter or you are living full time in the unit and keeping the coach and its compartments thoroughly heated.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • RV Antifreeze
  • Air Compressor
  • High Quality RV cover
  • Tire covers
  1. Step 1

    Disconnect the water supply.

  2. Step 2

    Remove the water filter.

  3. Step 3

Open the faucets. This will create a good gravity draining effect.

  4. Step 4

Drain the hot water heater, pumps, water and holding tanks and all of the lines. Fully back flush the water system to remove all the water from the lines.

  5. Step 5

Take your air compressor and blow air through each line until all signs of water are gone.

  6. Step 6

While leaving all of the lines and faucets open, pour a container of RV antifreeze into each drain to fill the trap. Make sure the antifreeze comes through every faucet in the RV.

  7. Step 7

Place a a high-quality RV cover completely over your motorhome.

  8. Step 8

Firmly secure tire covers so that the covers do not fly off the tires during windy conditions.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check with your RV manufacturer for additional winterizing tips that are important to your unit.
  • Do not use automobile antifreeze in your RVs water system.
