Step 1
Think about who you want to sell the car too.
Do you want to sell this to another person or to a dealership? -
Step 2
Think about if you have the *TIME* to sell the car.
Just with apartments and houses, you have to take care of a car and clean it up to increase the chance of selling your car. Can you take time off to clean your car? Do you have the time to get a mechanic to look at the car? Do you have time to advertise the car? Do you know where to advertise the car for sell? -
Step 3
Think about if you are comfortable dealing with strangers and setting up appointments to see your car.
Are you comfortable test driving in a car with a stranger? Do you feel comfortable meeting strangers to check out the car? -
Step 4
Think about if you are confident with negotiating a price and deal with potential buyers.
Do you understand the value of the car? How much are you willing to lose or hope to profit with the sell of the car? Do you feel confident with negotiations with other people? -
Step 5
Look up the liability for private car sells in you area.
Are you ready to take responsibility for problems with your car? Some states have lemon laws with time frames or bars cars must meet if sold (whether or not they can pass a state inspection). -
Step 6
Think about if you can handle the risks of selling a car. Are you willing to take the responsibilities of selling the car for a poor price? What about not being able to sell the car to anyone?
