Patch a Pothole in Asphalt
Patch a Pothole in Asphalt

This is a simple and quick solution to fix that pesky pothole that is in your asphalt driveway or parking lot. Follow these simple steps and your pothole will be gone in just a few minutes.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Trowel
  • Garden Hose with Water
  • Asphalt Patch
  • 4"x4" as long as your pothole is wide plus 1 foot
  1. Step 1

The first step in this fun process is to make sure the day is warmer than 60 degrees and the sun is out. Now we need to clean out the pothole in our asphalt driveway. An easy way to do this is with water and a garden hose and using a trowel to get all the lose stuff free and out of there.

  2. Step 2

Now we need to let it dry. This should take only about an hour or so.

  3. Step 3

Once dry we need to take out our asphalt patch and using our trowel scoop it into the hole. As you fill in the hole make sure to pack it down with you trowel. Make sure to leave a little extra higher than the hole so we have a little to pack in.

  4. Step 4

Next we take the 4"x4" using the end to pack the asphalt patch down and press it into the hole. At this point you may need to add more patch. The goal is to have a solid patch that will harden and not sink if you set something on it. After packing it down, lay the 4"x4" on its side and slide it over the hole. This will remove the excess patch so it is level with your driveway.
