Lose Weight by Cutting Soda from Your Diet

If you drink 1 or more cans of soda per day and struggle to keep excess weight off, you can potentially lose that weight by cutting soda out of your daily diet. Follow these steps to reduce and ultimately eliminate your daily soda intake.

Many times we drink soda because we are thirsty. The feeling of thirst is your body's way of telling you in needs hydration. Carbonated beverages are not ideal for re-hydration. This article will show you how to replace soda with water and lose weight within a month.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Bottle or cup for ice water

Count how many ounces of soda you consume in each day for a week. Divide by 2. This number is your goal for week one consumption.

Example: 2 (12oz. cans of soda per day) x 7 days = 168 ounces per week
168 ounces / 2 = 84 ounces maximum allowed soda consumption for week 1 (about 7 cans). You will replace the other 84 ounces you'll be missing with ice water.

At the end of week one, look back to see if you stuck to your goal. Divide the amount of soda you drank during week 1 in half. This is your new goal for week 2. Again, replace soda with ice water. Carrying a water bottle full of ice water is the best way to stay on track.

  3. Step 3

Repeat the process for week three. By now you should start noticing a positive change in your mood. Some people fear they need the caffeine from soda, but you can acquire that through plain black coffee, which has no corn syrup and other harmful chemicals in it. At this point, you are ready to go a week without soda altogether.

After one month, if you stuck to it and maintained a healthy diet with the rest of your food, you should lose some weight. I guarantee you will feel much better about your health simply by cutting soda from your diet.

Tips & Warnings
  • Soda is acidic and can be harmful to your stomach lining. Eliminating soda from your diet will reduce stomach problems and heartburn.
  • High Fructose Corn Syrup and other added chemicals and preservatives found in soda are unhealthy contributors to weight and diabetes problems.
  • A healthy diet should be accompanied by regular exercise. Even walking a couple miles around your neighborhood each evening will increase your chance of losing weight.
