It is always great when you can make something last. Especially if it cost you a lot of money to own. This article has a few helpful tips on extending the life of your car. Read on.

  1. Step 1

    Do not drive as often. This may sound easy but it is easy to hop in your car for a short trip. This can really add up in milage on your car when you are doing those small errands. If you can walk, take public transportation or bike somewhere try to. You can save money on gas that way too.

  2. Step 2

    You should check all of your fluids from time to time. This means you should do an inspection of your antifreeze, transmission fluid, oil, brake fluid, and power steering fluid. Checking it ob a weekly basis would be perfect if you have the time.

  3. Step 3

    Change your oil in your car on a regular basis. This can help prevent damaging to your engine and improve your mileage. You should change it about every 4 months if you are a casual driver who doesn't take long trips. When you change your oil also get a new oil filter.

  4. Step 4

    Your air filter should be changed about every 9 to 11 months. It can help your mileage if you do.

  5. Step 5

    Get new fluids every 1 and 1/2 to 2 years. Or you can check your car's manual to see how often it should be changed.
