Things You'll Need:
- Paper
- Pencil or pen
- Good eraser
-
Step 1
Baby Elephant HeadTo draw a baby elephant, start with the head. Draw a circle with two antennae (two wavy lines).
-
Step 2
Finish The EarsThe next step for your baby elephant is to draw a curved line under each antennae. This should close the ears and take the floppy shape of elephant ears.
-
Step 3
Trunk, Body And LegsNext, draw two long curved lines coming from just below the middle of your head. Draw an oval shape below the head and front ear. This is the body. Draw four legs coming off the bottom of the belly (body). Remember the back two legs will stop where the body starts but the front two legs will go up slightly into the body.
-
Step 4
Shape Your ElephantNext, Shape your elephant. Go over lines you plan to keep and erase the lines you won't be needing. Add more detailed lines around the ears, trunk, legs and head (face). Near the bottom of the head where the trunk ends (begins) draw a mouth.
-
Step 5
Eyes and ToesNext, give your elephant eyes and define the toes. The eyes can be small or large, oval or round. You decide. Don't forget to give your baby elephant eyebrows. In the ears, make a few marks. I find the LESSER THAN and MORE THAN symbols work well.
-
Step 6
ShadingNext, add shading to the trunk, legs, belly and ears. Across the top of the trunk, make a few lines.
-
Step 7
Add Background And Final TouchesNow add your final touches and background. If you can draw a tree, put one in your background. Give your elephant a place to stand. Some scattered grass works nicely or you can give your elephant a lot of grass.
-
Step 8
Your Finished! Finally, you can add some color to your picture or leave it as a sketch.
