Step 1
Follow the Wiccan Rede
Morality is a large part of the Wiccan religion, and the center of this is the Wiccan Rede. In full the Wiccan Rede states:
“Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill, An it harm none do what ye will.”
The Rede is explained further by the Gardnerian sect, to mean:
"Keep pure your highest ideal, strive ever towards it; let naught stop you or turn you aside, for mine is the secret door which opens upon the door of youth.”
Like the Golden Rule of Christianity, these statements essentially mean to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Wicca encourages treating others with respect, while maintaining respect for yourself and nature. This is what maintains balance. -
Step 2
Remember the Law of Threefold Return
Wiccans also believe in the Law of Threefold. Remember the old saying, what goes around, comes around, three times as hard? This is the Law of Threefold: whatever malevolent action a person takes against someone or something, will return to that person with triple the force. -
Step 3
Accept the Divine and Follow the Divine's Guidance
The Divine is not someone or something; it is everyone and everything. It manifests in every physical being, and is inside of you. Divinity creates us, guides us, and is us; that it was makes us all sacred. You need not to follow the guidance of anyone but yourself, because the Divine is within you. Follow your own heart, and remember that no one else has any authority over you or your actions. -
Step 4
Accept Responsibility For Your Actions
Because you are your own authority, you must take responsibility for your own actions. You are in charge of your own destiny, and you control where you will go. No one else can make you do anything you have not already chosen to do, or make you feel anything you have not already chosen to feel. -
Step 5
Respect Everyone and Everything
Accept and respect that the same way no one can tell you what is right or wrong, you cannot tell others their path in life. No choice is ever the wrong choice for everyone, just as no one choice is the correct choice for everyone. Respect the beliefs and choices of others, the same way they respect yours.
Respect for Mother Nature is equally important. Just as the Divine is in all of us, it is in everything, and we are all sacred: the sky, the earth, the water, and all that inhabit it.
