Things You'll Need:
- New Computer
- Internet Connection
-
Step 1
1)
Well first things first. You will want to go into the "Uninstall or Change a Program" which is under the "My Computer" window. In here you will want to remove any program such as Burning Software or Audio Recording or Anti-Virus. These programs are useless unless you purchase them. If you don't use them at all they will only slow down your computer significantly.
**Remember don't uninstall programs that belong to the computer brand you just bought (E.G. Dell, Sony) or anything that belongs to Microsoft, unless you know you don't need it. -
Step 2
2)
This step is a little trickier so listen carefully. Go to the start menu and under search type in "msconfig" when you select it this will take you to a special window. Select the "startup" tab and under there UNSELECT items like QuickTime, Adobe Acrobat, and iTunes. These programs are started when you turn on the computer and the more items the computer has turn on the slower its going to be starting up. When you are done select the "OK" button and restart your computer. -
Step 3
3)
This is by far the most important step of all. When you first step up your new pc make sure you have an extra hard drive handy where you can keep all of your important information such as pictures, videos, and documents. Your C: drive which is where Windows is located is prone to Viruses, Spyware, and other types of corruption. Don't have anything of importance saved on the main hard drive because of this problem. Have your second hard drive hold all your important information and you can't go wrong.
