Aloe can soothe razor burn.

Razor burn is the painful irritation and burning sensation of skin that has recently been shaved. Dull razors, sensitivity to shaving creams and soaps and improper shaving techniques can all contribute to razor burn. Treating the rash and irritation is simple but does take some time. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Dry the affected area, and apply witch hazel using cotton balls. This will cool the area, offer instant relief from the burning sensation and may also encourage the razor burn to heal faster.

    • 2

Apply aloe vera gel to the skin. This will help immediately cool the affected areas and encourage the skin to heal faster. Do not use lotion for relief, as lotion usually contains dyes and perfumes that can further irritate your razor burn.

    • 3

Skip aftershave, and do not use alcohol on the burn. These products can dry out the skin, making the razor burn worse.

    • 4

Apply an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream about once a week if the rash and irritation are severe.

    • 5

Avoid shaving the area until the razor burn has completely healed. Shaving over the rash will not only cause pain, it can also open up scabs, causing bleeding and worsening the razor burn.
