Step 1
Begin listening to Arabic audios even before you know anything about the language. The Speak 7 Website contains many commonly used Arabic phrases. Listen to the audios on this page:

Even though you won't understand exactly what is being said, you can learn intonation and the sounds used in Arabic. -
Step 2
Continue listening to the phrases. The phrases are written in Arabic script. Try to relate the sounds with the letters. Note that Arabic is written from right to left.

Step 3
Learn each letter by listening to how it sounds. Learn the alphabet by listening to the audios on this page:

Step 4
Recognize the letters within script. Relate what you hear on the audios to what is written. As you learn each letter, learn to recognize the way that same letter looks when it's written in script.
The image shows the letter "B." The left B is written as the letter appears at the end of a word; the right B is written as it appears in the middle of a word. Each Arabic letter takes a different form depending on where it is located within the word. -

As you type the letters to make a word, you will see how the letters change as the word is formed. -
Step 6
Learn the vowel sound that accompanies each consonant. Unlike English vowels, Arabic vowel sounds change with the consonant that precedes them. Listening to spoken Arabic is the only way to learn these sounds.

Step 7
Frequent places where native Arabic speakers go. Listen to the way they speak; from time to time ask them how to say different words and let them correct your pronunciation. Most of the time they will be happy to help you.

Purchase Arabic music and listen to it. Sing along with the music, which will help you with your pronunciation.
