      Gather information from the projects completed by the employee throughout the year.

      Document examples of positive work behavior and behavior needing improvement on the annual review form.

      Send the annual review to the other party. This allows the other party to include examples that may have been forgotten throughout the year.

      Revise the appraisal form to include examples that were on the other party's version of the annual review. If there are not any revisions, let the other party know.

      Schedule a meeting to discuss the annual review.

      Discuss the annual review and agree on a rating for the performance. The discussion is an opportunity to understand job expectations vs. job performance.

      Sign the annual review. Keep a copy and send a copy to the other party.

  • To save time, throughout the year, keep a log of examples that can be used for the annual review. Be fair and honest when self-assessing and assessing others.
