      Set up your 2Wire router in a cool, vented area near a phone jack--preferably away from other electronics that will generate their own heat.

      Plug the phone-line tip of your DSL filter into the phone jack adjacent to your 2Wire router. Run a phone cable from the port on the filter labeled "DSL" to the "DSL" port on the back of your 2Wire home gateway.

      Plug an Ethernet cable into the ports on the back of your 2Wire router labeled "LAN" or "Ethernet." Insert the other end of the cable into your computer's network card.

      Connect the power adapter to your 2Wire, and then plug the unit into a power outlet. Power on your computer and open your Internet browser. Type "192.168.1.1" into the browser's address bar, and then press "Enter" on your keyboard.

      Type in any applicable operating system user name or password if prompted. Follow 2Wire wizard to complete the setup of your home network.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use DSL filters for all devices plugged into a phone jack on the same line as your DSL connection.
