Edmunds.com rates the Honda Odyssey as its favorite choice in minivans. By adhering to a proper maintenance schedule, you will not only get the most out of your vehicle, but also a higher resale value.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Honda Odyssey owner's manual
  1. Step 1

Refer to the owner's manual provided with your Honda Odyssey for specific maintenance recommendations. Each model may require slightly different care, and your owner's manual will specify exactly what is recommended to keep your minivan in excellent condition.

  2. Step 2

Watch the oil life indicator displayed on your dashboard. The percent life remaining is displayed. The dash will start to warn you when your remaining oil life is 5 percent. Make sure to get an oil change before the oil life remaining falls to 0 percent.

  3. Step 3

Watch for other service indicators on your dashboard. When services are due on your Odyssey, notification messages will appear. The message will typically indicate the code for the service due. Refer to your owner's manual to see what type of service is needed and call your local Honda dealer to schedule an appointment.

  4. Step 4

Check your engine oil level every time you fill your gas tank. Low engine oil levels and/or leaking engine oil can quickly damage your engine, leading to costly repairs.

  5. Step 5

Check the following items monthly: engine coolant level, automatic transmission fluid, brake fluid, tire pressure, tire wear, and lights. For help locating these items, refer to your owner's manual. Schedule a service visit at your local Honda dealer if you find any problems that you cannot repair yourself.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dashboard reminders are typically reset when maintenance is performed at your local Honda dealer. However, if it is not done, you can manually reset these reminders by following the instructions in your owner's manual.
  • Honda recommends taking your Oddyssey to a Honda service center or dealership for all scheduled maintenance. Failure to maintain your vehicle properly by Honda-certified technicians could void any warranties.
