How to Connect a DS to a PC

The Nintendo DS is Nintendo's latest entry into the handheld video game console market. The Nintendo DS includes the ability to connect to a PC to access an internet connection and play games online. The DS will not do this right out of the box, however. It first must be properly set up.

Things You'll Need

  • Nintendo DS PC Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector
  • The Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector is a small device resembling a USB Flash Drive that is required to connect a Nintendo DS to a computer. Plug the connector into an open USB port on your computer. It is a Plug and Play compatible device, which means it will automatically be recognized by Windows and no additional setup is needed.

  • Turn on your Nintendo DS.

  • Navigate to the "Connection Setup" part of the Nintendo DS main menu. Set your Nintendo DS to connect to the Wi-Fi USB Adapter by selecting the "Wi-Fi Adapter" option from the list of available devices.

  • Your Nintendo DS should be connected to your PC. You now can send files between both devices and connect to the internet to play online-supported games.
