      Use a sample letter (see "Resources" below) if you are disputing errors on your credit report through the mail. Explain the error or problem and the name of the credit account in dispute so the agency can investigate the claim. Send the letter along with copies of any documents that show the correct information.

      Dispute an error with TransUnion by mail at TransUnion Consumer Solutions, PO Box 2000, Chester, PA 19022-2000.

      Dispute an error with Experian by mail at Experian, PO Box 2002, Allen, TX 75013.

      Dispute an error with Equifax by mail at Equifax Information Services LLC, PO Box 740256, Atlanta, GA 30374.

    Report a Dispute Online

      Visit Equifax (see "References" below) to file a dispute. Once you arrive at the page, click on "Online Dispute." Enter your zip code to determine which company handles your account, Equifax or CSC. You will be directed to the appropriate website from there. You must register for the site to enter your dispute.

      Visit Experian (see "References" below) to view your credit report. Click on the button that says,"Dispute this item." Select the reason why you believe the information is wrong. Then click the "Submit" button.

      Visit TransUnion.com to dispute an error from this reporting agency. Click on "Dispute" to go the next page. Click on "Online Dispute" and select "First Time User" or "Returning User." You will be asked to register or log in. Once registered, provide the information you are using to dispute the error reported on your credit report.
