Make Homemade Baby Food with Trader Joes Products

Mostly everyone has heard of Trader Joes. It is a unique grocery store with only the top quality products from around the world. Now all of us with young babies wish that Trader Joes sold baby food but unfortunately they do not. It is possible to purchase fresh fruits and veggies or frozen and make your own baby food for your little one. She does deserve the best.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • organic frozen peas
  • organic frozen green beans
  • 1 organic red delicious apple
  • 2-3 ice cube trays
  • blender
  • baby formula or breast milk
  1. Step 1

When you enter your local Trader Joes go to the frozen section and choose the organic frozen peas and the organic frozen green beans. You may also choose fresh organic produce but the frozen is cheaper and lasts longer.

  2. Step 2

Also choose a nice ripe organic red delicious apple. Apples are great first foods for babies and they are easily digested by baby's tiny tummy.

  3. Step 3

Bring them home and wash thouroughly for a few minutes.

  4. Step 4

For this step you can either steam the veggies or rinse them with hot water to thaw.

  5. Step 5

Place the chosen veggie in the blender and puree. For a baby's first food there must not be any lumps. Make sure it is ultra smooth by mixing it in the blender and then puree again. You may add baby's formula milk or breast milk to thin out. Adding the milk also gives the baby the extra nutrition baby need to grow properly.

  6. Step 6

Next pour into ice cube trays and freeze. Once they are frozen pop out the cubes and place them into containers marked with the date they were made. Do not keep in the freezer for more than 3 months.

Tips & Warnings
  • Once baby has tried the peas and green beans, try other veggies such as broccoli, spinach, and butternut squash
  • Buying a few different types of veggies is highly recommended because your baby may not like a certain food.
  • Beware of those hidden lumps.
