How to Troubleshoot DVD Decoder Problems in Windows Vista

Microsoft Windows Vista users often report having issues with playing DVDs. Many times, they are experiencing DVD decoder problems. DVD decoders are the software that allow the DVD player to read and play encrypted DVDs. These steps will help you troubleshoot problems such as being presented with the common Vista error message, "Decoder Error The video decoder has either malfunctioned or is not installed.
