How to Use SD Memory Cards
Secure Digital cards are simple storage devices that allow you to save music, photos, documents and videos to use wherever you go. They come in a variety of memory sizes, such as 4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB, and are as small as postage stamps. SD cards are used in many modern devices, including digital cameras, video camcorders and mobile phones. Using your SD card with a computer lets you view, transfer and upload files quickly and conveniently.

Using SD Memory Cards on a PC

Insert the SD Memory card into the SD/MMC/SM/MS/MS-PRO slot on your computer. The computer will detect it as a new device.

Double-click on "My Computer" on the desktop. You will see your SD memory card icon listed as a removal disk together with other hard drives on the computer.

Double-click on the SD memory card icon to open its window and reveal its contents. Locate your file from your computer and right-click on it. Click "Copy."

Right-click on an empty spot on the SD memory card window and click "Paste" to transfer the file there. Additionally, you can drag and drop a file from the SD memory card reader to a location on your computer to copy it there. Move to the next step if your computer does not have a card slot.

Connect the USB cable of the SD card reader into the USB port on your computer. Insert the SD memory card into the SD slot. Your computer will recognize the SD memory card in the SD card reader.

Double-click on "My Computer" and double-click on the SD memory card icon to open it. Drag and drop files from your computer to the card to copy them there.
Using SD Memory Cards on a Macintosh

Plug the USB cable of the SD card reader into the USB port on your Macintosh. Insert the SD memory card into the SD slot on the SD card reader. Your computer will recognize the SD memory card inserted in the SD card reader and display its icon on the desktop.

Double-click on the SD memory card icon on the desktop to open it and reveal its contents.

Copy and paste a file into the card window to transfer them there. Additionally, you can drag and drop files to and from the card.
