How to Install a USB Controller Driver
Video games are a great way to relieve stress and take your mind off of work for a few minutes. For the average computer gamer, a keyboard and mouse will usually suffice; however, for the more extreme gamer, joysticks and controllers are essential. But like must other pieces of computer hardware, they must have drivers installed before they can be used. Learn how to install the typical USB controller's driver.

Plug the controller into a USB port on your computer. Your computer will advise you that new hardware has been detected.

Insert the driver installation disk.

Follow the steps on the installation wizard until the driver has been installed.

Click "Start" on the desktop.

Select "Control Panel."

Open "Game Controllers."

Click "Add" and then select your controller from the list provided. Click "OK" to close the list. The controller and its driver are now installed onto the computer.

If you do not have an installation disk, go to the website of the company that made the controller. Once there, you will be able to download drivers for the particular device.
