Things You'll Need:
- Beeswax candle with essential oils
- Cleanser
- Facial Peel
- Neutralizer
- Soft towel
- Anti-aging serum
- Home use LED device
- Moisturizer with broad spectrum sunscreen
-
Step 1
Create a spa like atmosphere in the bathroom by dimming the lights. Light a natural non-toxic candle made with soothing essential oils like lavender, geranium, and rose to add to the ambience.
-
Step 2
Cleanse face thoroughly using an appropriate cleanser for your skin type. A creamy non-foaming hydrating cleanser works for dry skin, and a mildly foaming cleanser with active ingredients like glycolic or salicylic acid works better on oily skin prone to acne.
-
Step 3
Use a facial peel to exfoliate skin. Apply a thin layer of the peel, and rinse it off after 10-15 minutes. Use a timer if needed to keep track of time. An enzyme based peel made with fruit enzymes is good for sensitive or normal skin types. A peel made with alpha hydroxy acids, or beta hydroxy acids, or a combination of both helps oily or acne prone skin. Lactic acid peels, and natural fruit acid peels such as Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel are great for all skin types except very sensitive types.
-
Step 4
Choose a peel after researching thoroughly. There are several peels available on the market, all the way from mild to medical grade. Resist the urge to treat aggressively, and start off with the mildest peel possible. Follow the instructions on the packaging carefully.
-
Step 5
Rinse off the facial peel with water, or use the neutralizer provided with the peel to neutralize the acids. It is a good idea to rinse off with water after using the neutralizer to remove all residues. Pat dry face with a soft towel.
-
Step 6
Apply an anti-aging serum made with active ingredients on the face and wait for it to get absorbed thoroughly. Med spa facials often use hydrating serums made with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C, to soften the look of fine lines and wrinkles.
-
Step 7
Use a home use LED device as directed by the manufacturer. There are several home use LED devices on the market that are geared towards treating hyperpigmentation, acne, wrinkles, and redness of skin. These devices don't come cheap, but considering the fact that they mimic expensive laser, and photo-facial treatments at the med spa, they are worth the investment. Devices with blue LED lights target acne, and ones with red or amber lights target wrinkles as a general rule.
-
Step 8
Remember to moisturize and protect face with a broad spectrum sunscreen regularly to preserve the freshness of rejuvenated facial skin.
