How to Zip Files Using WinZip

WinZip is a software application that makes it easy to send multiple computer files in a single file. WinZip compresses the files so that the resulting single file is much smaller in size than all of the originals. This is useful when you need to email large documents or image files -- often these exceed the file size limitations set by email servers. If you need to email or FTP several files at once, then WinZip is your solution.

      Download WinZip off the WinZip website and install it on your computer.

      Place all the files in the same folder or directory on your computer.

      Select all of the files you want to add to a zip file by holding down the "Ctrl" key on your keyboard and clicking them with your mouse. The resulting files will be highlighted.

      Once the files are highlighted, right-click with your mouse to open a submenu on the screen. Select "Winzip," then select "Add to Zip File."

      The WinZip software automatically opens and you will see the "Add" screen.

      The default location to save zip files to is the desktop. If this is where you want the files, place your cursor at the end of the entry in the top text field. Type a name for your zip file.

      The file will now be in the location you chose. The files will also be displayed in the WinZip software.
