Things You'll Need:
- 2 sticks soybean margarine
- confectioner's sugar
- cocoa powder
- vanilla extract
-
Step 1
Once you've got a good vegan cake recipe (try aprilq's vegan chocolate banana cake!) you need a frosting to go with it. Follow these simple steps and you'll be baking like crazy!
-
Step 2
First, melt the two sticks of soybean margarine in the microwave for about a minute--it should be in liquid form. Let cool for another minute, then pour into a medium size mixing bowl.
-
Step 3
Next, add 1 cup confectioner's sugar, 1/2 cocoa powder, and 1 tsp vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly, making sure that there aren't any clumps of dry ingredients. If you have a mixer, mix on high for about two minutes. If you like your frosting extra dark, add another 1/4 cocoa powder and a small amount of soymilk.
-
Step 4
If you aren't going to use your frosting in the next few hours, you can store it in the fridge up to a week. Remember to take it out of the fridge an hour before you need it; frosting must be at room temperature in order to spread correctly. Once you've frosted your cake, you may want to decorate it will a dusting of cocoa powder or confectioner's sugar. Enoy!

on 6/30/2009 Good recipe for chocolate frosting. 5* I cannot recommend you now since my ehow account is a mess. I cannot add you as a friend either, but I was able to subscribe to you and will do those other things as soon as ehow fixes my account. I had to send this in this way since I cannot email either.
