How to Write Conclusion

You have nearly completed your paper. You are thrilled that you have only the conclusion to write. However, hours later, your thrill has turned into despair. You need help in writing the conclusion.

Instructions

First - remember that all of your ideas and thoughts should be summarized in the conclusion, giving your essay a sense of completeness. One step that you can use in writing your conclusion is stating your own personal reaction and/or opinion.

      Example

Before we give advice, we need to ask ourselves what we would do. The best advice is to be open and honest. Do not pretend as if you are perfect. Above all, be willing to admit when you are wrong. I had to do it, and I can tell you now that it was one of the best decisions I have made.

Second - write your conclusion as if you are restating the main idea. Use different words.

      Example

Like I have stated throughout this essay, there is no such thing as a perfect parent. Everyone makes mistakes. However, we, as parents, must not neglect our responsibilities. If we choose to neglect them, there is a price to pay. We may not pay it now, but we will surely pay it later.

Third - write your conclusion as a call for action by answering the question "why." Why is this important and what we must do now?

      Example

Being responsible is about making the right choices. This is why it is important that we learn how to use critical thinking skills. Therefore -I urge everyone today to think of the possible effects, rather than just reacting to situations.
